The much anticipated new Escape Room at Oliver Cromwell’s House was revealed with the first group escaping, with just ten minutes to spare.

The new theme at the Ely museum is set around a plot to murder Queen Victoria and bring about a new republic. The landlord of The Cromwell Arms is deeply troubled and needs your assistance to prevent this unspeakable crime.

Tourism officer Tracey Harding said: “If you have yet to join the craze and discover the brilliance of Escape Rooms then wait no longer.”

It is open to groups of between 4 to 8 people, this is the opportunity to gather friends, family or colleagues together to locate clues, solve puzzles and foil the plot in under 60 minutes as the clock ticks.

She said: “See how well you work together in this fun but challenging activity that will be a talking point for weeks to come.

“This is the perfect activity to celebrate a special occasion such as a birthday or anniversary or just an excuse for a memorable experience.”

Ms Harding said the activity also lends itself to the corporate market, work parties or even young people’s parties (aged 13 to 16 years).

“We have been amazed at the popularity of our first room, the Royalist Round Up which has been running for just over a year.

“We are therefore very excited to be able to offer a new themed room based around The Cromwell Arms, a throw back to when the House was indeed a pub in the 1800s.”

Sessions run every Saturday and Sunday, although additional dates and times are available upon request. For more information Oliver Cromwell’s House, 29 St Mary’s Street, Ely, Cambs. CB7 4HF
