CAMBRIDGESHIRE artist, author and illustrator Richard Savage is holding a month long exhibition at Octavia View in Wisbech in March,

Richard, 50, is known for his erotic art but this exhibition will focus on his new wildlife and aviation images.

He said: “Wildlife is an area of my art I’m developing, especially the big cats.

“There is an elegance to lions and tigers. They are truly awesome creatures.

“I try to capture them in as much detail as I can.”

The artist has a busy few months ahead, He is taking part in the London exhibition “The Beauty of Women” at the Menier Gallery in South London, which runs until January 19.

In addition, Richard’s work has been shortlisted for the Cork Street Gallery Open Exhibition in London’s Piccadilly which is open from January 18 to 25.

He draws inspiration from classical art, admiring the styles of Rafael and Rembrandt and the contemporary artists Boris Vallejo and Jack Vettriano.

He is also the author of four published stories, the illustrator of more than 85 book covers and illustrator of two children’s books.

This spring sees the publication of his first non-fiction book, “Beauty in Every Form”, which comprises the thoughts of more than 50 contributors.

Richard was determined to create an optimistic book which challenges the media’s rigid portrayal of what is beautiful.

He said: “Over the last few years I have felt increasingly more frustrated by some of the judgmental views on body shape.

“You only have to look at the media in general to see that what seems to be promoted is pencil thin models that are shown in print, every blemish meticulously airbrushed out.

“I believe beauty is all around us every day, in the faces and bodies of both young and old.

“It transcends cultures, religions, ethnicity and social status.”
