WISBECH Town threw away a 2-0 lead today as Kirkley & Pakefield’s second-half blitz stunned the Fenmen.

Steve Appleby’s side looked to be heading for their 15th win in this year’s Ridgeons Premier Division campaign as a fine curling effort from Nick Davey and a Jon Fairweather header put them 2-0 up.

But the Royals, who were unbeaten in six before today’s game, produced a stunning comeback, scoring four goals in just over half an hour to shock the Fenmen.

Not for the first time this season, luck appeared to have deserted Wisbech as Callum Reed and Chris Bacon struck the woodwork in a frantic second half.

The result sees the Fenmen drop to fifth. They will host Gorleston next Saturday.
