Doctors treating a man with severe amnesia took him to Wisbech in the hope it might trigger his memory.

Specialists say he speaks English but it appears to be a second language. He has an accent which is possibly eastern European and he understands some Lithuanian and Russian.

An international appeal to help identify the man was launched after he had been looked after for nearly two months with no recovery of his memory.

Robert, as he has been called by staff, was discovered at 6am in a public park in the centre of Peterborough on May 18.

He told police he had no memory of who he was or how he came to be in the park. Officers took him to Peterborough City Hospital where doctors found no signs of physical injury.

Officials contacted CPFT, which cares for people with mental health conditions, and he was taken to a ward at the Cavell Centre. Robert was found without a wallet, a mobile phone or any documents which would give clues to who he is.

He is believed to be in his early 20s, about 5ft 9ins tall, and weighs 13st. He has dark hair and blue eyes.

Dr Manaan Kar Ray who is treating Robert says that 50 days of memory loss is extremely rare and is one of the most challenging cases of his career.
