A Wisbech based building company has teamed up with the Prince’s Trust to help a young carpenter back into work.
Leeroi Smith, 21, trained in carpentry but, because he had been out of work for some time, lacked experience.
The trust approached Foster Property Maintenance (FPM) to see if they could offer Mr Smith the opportunity to gain hands on experience.
Mr Smith’s impressed the property maintenance specialist during the placement so he was offered part-time work in their stores depot.
Mr Smith said: “The Prince’s Trust have provided me with great support and the opportunity of working with Foster Property Maintenance. “I would like to thank FPM for the experience and I am delighted that they have given me an opportunity to get back into work.
“This gives me the chance to earn a wage that will enable me to get the equipment and training to further my chances of being a carpenter, which is my long term goal.”
Youth charity The Prince’s Trust works with 13 to 30-year-olds who have struggled at school, been in care, are long-term unemployed or have been in trouble with the law.
They help them to develop skills which will appeal to prospective employers.
