Three of the show’s judges turned their chairs for Vanessa Hunt, a former College of West Anglia student, following her performance of Cream’s ‘Sunshine of Love’.

Sir Tom Jones, Ricky Wilson and Rita Ora were all keen to have the 27-year-old on their team for the next stage of the competition.

“I thought it [the performance] was really something,” said Sir Tom Jones following the audition which was in front of a studio audience.

Ricky Wilson added: “For me, I just got lost in your performance. Incredible job Vanessa.”

In the end, Ms Hunt chose to join the next round of the competition with Rita Ora, who showed the first sign of interest in Ms Hunt’s performance.

“In all honesty, you sounded like nobody else and that’s all that mattered,” she said. “To me, your voice stood out.”

The only judge who not convinced by the performance was Will.i.am.

The next round of the competition will involve competing on stage with the other singers who made it though the show’s auditions.

Ms Hunt, from Wisbech, usually performs with the band ‘The Look’. Her boyfriend Richard Knight, a fellow bandmate, convinced her to apply for the show.
