Wisbech Grammar School ranked second in Cambridgeshire after outstanding GCSE results

A Fenland school has been ranked second in Cambridgeshire in a national newspaper’s school league table thanks to an outstanding set of GCSE results.

Ninety-three per cent of Wisbech Grammar School students achieved five or more GCSEs at A* to C, including English and mathematics.

The results place the school second in The Times League Table, which was published in last Friday’s edition.

The school was edged out by The Leys School, Cambridge, but finished ahead of Kimbolton School.

Headmaster Nicholas Hammond said: “We are absolutely delighted with the performance of our students in the summer GCSE examinations and we are delighted to have been placed so highly in this league table.

“We are pleased to report that they are doing very well with their A Level studies and we look forward to their continued success in public examinations and with all the extra-curricular activities they are involved in.”
