YOUNG people were encouraged to turn the page for a renewed interest in books with a day of events to meet authors and illustrators.
A host of activities, including face painting and rhyme and story times, were arranged to encourage families to get involved in making literacy fun.
The event took place at Orchards Primary School and was the culmination of a six month literacy project in the Waterlees area of Wisbech.
Community librarian Jakki Racey said; “The project has been great fun with book based events and activities organised in and around the Waterlees community.
“We hope the festival will become an annual event.”
Among the day’s guests were children’s book illustrators Marion Lindsay and Steve Smallman, author Robert Crowther and storyteller Andy Hawkins.
Also visiting were adult authors Chris Goodwin, Drew Kinayle and Terry Martin.
Children got involved in face painting, making pop-up books and colourful book-based crafts in the literacy day which was funded by Cambridgeshire County Council.
