A woman killed in a collision at Wyton on Friday was a serving police officer with Cambridgeshire Police

Detective Constable Sharon Garrett, 48, died after the Renault Clio she was driving was involved in a collision with two other cars and two lorries on the A141 at 4.35pm.

The driver of one of the lorries, a 26-year-old man from King’s Lynn, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He was interviewed and has been bailed pending further enquiries.

DC Garrett joined Cambridgeshire Constabulary in 1991 and served in a number of roles across the force, most recently investigating complex fraud offences in the Economic Crime Unit.

She leaves her husband, Adrian, who is also a serving Cambridgeshire police officer and their two children.

Chief Constable Simon Parr said: “Detective Constable Sharon Garrett was an exceptional police officer and will be truly missed by all of the many friends and colleagues who she had within the constabulary.

“The death of Sharon in such tragic circumstances is so incredibly sad. My condolences and heartfelt sympathy go to her husband, children and immediate family but also to the many friends and colleagues who will feel the loss of such an exceptional person.”

PC James Thorne, investigating, said: “I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who saw any of the vehicles prior to it, to call police.”

Anyone with any information should call the Roads Policing Unit on 101.
