Alexander Thomson, 19, admitted having the blade in a public place.

He was sentenced to six months for carrying the knife on Friday September 23, and a further two months for breaching an earlier community sentence impose for a similar offence committed in December 2010.

A member of the public alerted door staff at Heights, in New Conduit Street, King’s Lynn, about the knife.

They searched Thomson, of Grimston Road, South Wootton, and found a lock knife tucked into his waistband.

Chief Insp Ady Porter said: “Carrying weapons is a very serious crime, which will mean serious consequences when offenders are caught.

“We take pro-active action to reduce this time of crime, in a bid to prevent more serious violent crime.

“A crowded nightclub is obviously a dangerous place to carry a knife, but thanks to the actions of a member of the public and the door staff, this offender was caught and subsequently punished.”
