The first Sunday opening at the Wisbech & Fenland Museum has been deemed as a success, with visitors enjoying the shops’ exhibition and the original manuscript of the ‘Great Expectations’ in the library room.

Ari Volanakis, resilience project officer, said: “The first Sunday opening attracted visitors from out of Wisbech, many were visiting for the first time or visiting their families.

“Families had fun using the period games and toys in the Lambert room, which are set up for all to use during the holidays.

“Dozens of visitors came in to thank us for opening on Sundays and took time to relax and look around in the museum.

Tomorrow, Sunday August 13, the museum has more activities for families from 12 noon until 4pm, in partnership with the Museum of Zoology from Cambridge University.

On Sunday August 20, a major portrait exhibition will be open to the public.
