Raffle tickets were also sold at the sale of home-made cakes in the Academy’s restaurant on Friday, September 28.

The tasty cakes were made by students and staff organising the event, whereas pupils also got involved in selling the cakes and promoting the sale to teachers and fellow students.

Teaching assistant Nicki Cobbin, who helped organise the sale, said: “Students and staff from both the Learning Support Centre and Ethnic Minority Achievement teams worked alongside each other from the onset.

“This included developing an awareness of the work of Macmillan, producing posters to advertise our event, making cakes both at home and in school, charity money bucket collection and selling the cakes.

“Congratulations go to everyone who helped make the event so successful.”

First prize in the raffle was a giant chocolate cupcake, with an apple cake for second place and a lemon cake for third.
