A six-week consultation has been launched on proposed changes to a plan which will determine how Fenland is governed for the next 17 years.

The proposed changes to Fenland District Council’s Core Strategy, which is the council’s main tool for planning for new development and growth in the district until 2031, result from discussions at public hearings held by government appointed planning inspector Claire Sherratt.

The council supports all the main changes, but the inspector will decide which of them should be included in her final report, which is likely to be completed by the beginning of March.

She may also include other main changes in addition to the ones listed in the council’s endorsed schedule.

Once published it will be available for viewing on the council’s website.

Comments are only being invited on the actual changes proposed - the council does not want wider comments on the content of the plan or any repeat of previous representations.

The decision on whether to adopt the plan will be taken by a full meeting of the council following its approval by the Cabinet.

The proposed changes can be viewed on the council’s website at www.fenland.gov.uk/article/8178/.

Hard copies are available at the Fenland @ your service shops, libraries (including the mobile library) and Fenland Hall in March.

Comments should be sent by 5pm on February 24 to the Programme Officer, Fenland Hall, County Road, March, Cambs, PE15 8NQ. Tel: 01354 622255, Email: pofficer@fenland.gov.uk

Earlier this week two Supplementary Planning Documents designed to support the Core Strategy also went out to consultation.

One covers the council’s approach to dealing with all aspects of renewable energy facilities, including windfarms. The other is aimed at ensuring all new developments are well designed.

They can be viewed at www.fenland.gov.uk/article/3041/
