Man arrested after throwing drain cover at Wisbech Police Station

WISBECH Police took to Twitter to reveal that among 10 arrests over the weekend was one man who hurled a drain cover at the police station.

The officer running the Cambs Police Twitter account for Fenland had the hash tag #stupid ready and waiting to comment on the offender.

Police were less amused by the hostile reception they got when they went to one house in the town following reports of drink inspired disorder.

“Three officers injured in violent dispute at Wisbech house over weekend...fuelled by alcohol,” a police spokesman commented on Twitter.

In another instance police reported a drink driver and suspected burglar were both picked up by patrol staff in Wisbech using automatic number plate technology.

And elsewhere in Wisbech a man was arrested for possession of a knife and drugs at what they termed the “Wisbech ASB hotspot Tillery field.” The arrest followed CCTV reporting.

Elsewhere across Fenland police reported a vehicle had been seized and numerous traffic offences were being prosecuted in Chatteris following “anti social driving clamp down”.

Police also reported that a man who contested a fixed penalty ticket for bypassing flood signs at Whittlesey in December had lost his court case.

“He now has £100 fine and £300 costs...” noted the Cambs Cop twitter account.

Police also reported that a drunken man in Whittlesey head butted a shop window last week.

“He’s now a burden on the NHS, police and the business,” said a police spokesman. “More alcohol related crime.”

Police also disclosed that in July and across Fenland police had caught and dealt with 87 shoplifters.

“It’s not a trivial offence,” they reported on Twitter.
