People of all ages have begun to weave stories and dream new structures in the space, exploring play, adventure and the outdoors.

“What the artists and children and young people are doing at the Spinney adventure playground has been fantastic. We need more young people and community members taking part in that and we need more funding to continue funding the work.

“It’s an inclusive project that allows everyone to take part because no particular skills are needed, and the end results are amazing, truly fantastic,” said Jemma Keegan, Overseeing Manager of Wisbech Adventure Playground.

There are workshops for the year 5 classes from Orchards Primary School and a group from the County School, who will be visiting the playground regularly over the summer term to work alongside the artists and members of the playteam.

Students at The County School in Wisbech have previously worked closely with the Spinney adventure playground through the Prince’s Trust XL Programme unit.

By helping to repair some of the equipment it has encouraged students to use the Spinney in their own time.

Tom Mandley, instructor, said: “This current arts project is another excellent opportunity for the young people to cement their links with such a wonderful area through creating and developing the spinney as they see it.

“The ongoing improvement of the entrances and the building of yurts with natural materials such as willow has given our young people the chance to make and look after something of their own doing which should contribute to the preservation of the area as well as encouraging them to use and respect the area in their recreational time.”
