PETERBOROUGH firefighters raised more than £700 heaving a 12-tonne fire engine two-miles on Saturday.
Crowds of people donated cash and kept the crews going with waves of support.
The event raised £720, to be split between The Fire Fighters Charity, The Burned Children’s Camp and Macmillan Cancer Care.
Organiser Steve Peacock, Watch Commander at Dogsthorpe’s White Watch, said: “Thank you to everyone who came out to support us in this tough challenge.
“We’re thrilled with the amount of money raised and would like to thank the local people for their generosity.
“The Fire Fighters Charity is an organisation that provides support to fire personnel and their families, who can be retired or still working in the UK.
“It is an essential service which we rely on to be here and which has already enabled many firefighters in Cambridgeshire to come back to work quickly after injuries or long term health complications, which may not have been the case otherwise.”
