MEMBERS of the March Society carried out an inspection of Nene Parade on Wednesday.
They were taking part in a initiative giving residents their say on how to improve where they live.
The group strolled along Nene Parade – discussing and noting its good features as well as documenting anything that needed improving.
Notes were made about obstructed signposts on Wigstones Bridge, sections of overgrown riverbank spilling onto the highway, broken fences, empty and neglected properties and rat sightings.
A brief report will now be produced with recommendations passed to the Fenland District Council and Cambridgeshire County Council.
The March Society intends to carry out similar inspections of other March streets.
The next March Society event is ‘Peterborough in Detail’ in March Library on Wednesday September 7 at 7pm.
Members of Peterborough Civic Society will give an illustrated talk about their book ‘Peterborough in Detail’, which celebrates the architecture in Peterborough and the surrounding villages.
Entry is £1.50 members, £2.50 non-members. Tea, coffee and biscuits are included.
