More Cambridgeshire pupils will get offers from their first choice secondary school this year

ALMOST all pupils in the county will be attending the secondary school of their choice in September, according to figures released today.
In Cambridgeshire, 96.5 per cent of pupils have been offered a place at their first preference school. A further 2.7 per cent have been offered a place at their second or third preference, while 0.8 per cent could not be offered any of their preferences.
This is a 1.8 per cent increase from the 94.7 per cent of pupils who received an offer from their preferred secondary school last year.
Councillor David Harty, the County Council’s Cabinet Member for Learning said: “I am grateful and impressed by the hard work of our admissions team in managing to get so many pupils into their first choice secondary school.
“We always try to meet as many first preferences as possible.”
