Three bikes which have been found around March in the last few months are being kept at the town’s police station ready for collection.

If you have lost a blue and green mountain bike, lilac Raleigh bike or a red child’s bike, e-mail peter.wright@cambs.pnn.police.uk

Cycle coding will be held on Wednesday, June 4 at Sainsbury’s in March from 2pm to 5pm.

It involves stamping into the metal of the bike, near the bottom bracket, your postcode and possibly your street number, making it close to unique as a cycle ID.

Marking and labelling a bike in this way acts as a deterrent to criminals and may help the police track it down if it’s stolen.

Unless a bike is well-identified, a thief may escape prosecution because there is no proof of theft.
