A GROUP of 24 organisations met at the Maltings in Ely last Thursday to remind East Cambridgeshire’s voluntary and community groups that millions of pounds worth of funding is still available.
Funding the East was officially launched in the city in front of a crowd of more than 130 charity representatives from across the region, who heard how they could get their hands’ on some of the £80 million that is available.
Among the organisations offering the cash were the Big Lottery Fund, WREN, Children in Need, Arts Council England, Comic Relief and Foundation East.
A spokesman for Funding the East said: “Despite the current economic downturn we are still open for business and funding is available for organisations and projects that make a real difference to our communities and the lives of local people.
“Awards ranging from just a few hundred to hundreds of thousands of pounds are
available to support groups, organisations and individuals that meet local need, provide new experiences and change lives.”
