March community group digs deep to help Fenland organisations

A Fenland community group has given £750 to four causes and got behind a guide group.

March Lions have donated £250 to March Amateur Boxing Club, £300 to voluntary group SERVE who deliver blood to hospitals around the region, £100 to Magpas and £100 to the Somerset Levels Relief Fund to help with the fuel costs in the deliveries of foodstuffs provided by Fenland farmers.

They have also supplied the 8th March Guide Group with 20 high visibility waistcoats, 10 pairs of wellington boots and are looking to buy five lanterns.

A bid to turn a paddock at Walsoken into a travellers’ camp with 12 mobile homes and 12 caravans has been rejected after a nine month campaign – that included 47 letters of objection - to halt it.
