RUGBY: March primary school pupils taught rugby lesson from Northampton Saints club

Year 4 children at Burrowmoor Primary School on Burrowmoor Road, March, have been involved in the training programme spearheaded by the Northampton-based club.

A spokesman said: “The course links mathematics to sport, and has consisted of five weeks of one hour in class looking at applied Maths, scoring, league tables, counting passes in a game etc.

“That was then followed by an hour of Tag-Rugby taught by a professional coach.

The Northampton Saints are a professional rugby union club from Northampton and were formed in 1880.

They play in black, green, and gold colours and the team play their home games at Franklin’s Gardens.

The spokesman added: “Both Year 4 classes have benefited from the skills imparted and have put them to good use when playing against each other in teams.

“The children have made the most of this opportunity and are keen to show their new found knowledge during their PE and Maths sessions.”
