A 39 year old man has appeared at Cambridge Crown Court on three drugs related charges and five fraud matters.
Alek Sire, who gave his address as the Black Hart pub in Thorney, had his case was adjourned to February 3.
Sire – who has previously been known as Sir Alek Sire and Sir Raphael Merlotte- formerly of Somersham, faces what police describe as “three linked charity frauds”.
The victim in the alleged frauds is Fenland District Council and the charges relate to claims – posted via YouTube and other social media- that the umbrella organisation he runs, the Rose Project, is a registered charity.
Sire has previously run a now closed launderette and health and well-being centre in Station Road, March and a shop in Norfolk Street, Wisbech.
The Rose Project first appeared in Wisbech in May and at one time worked with the Wisbech food bank to hand out 263 items for local people in need. ‘Sir’ Alex Sire had described himself as chairman of the Rose Project.
