Kestutis Bauzys, found guilty of murdering Dzilva Butiena in Wisbech, to be sentenced
A Lithuanian man who was found guilty of murdering his girlfriend in Wisbech earlier this year will be sentenced today (October 18).
Kestutis Bauzys, 46, was found guilty of beating Dzilva Butiene to death at Cambridge Crown Court yesterday (17).
Mrs Butiene was found in a flat in Debnam Court, Orange Grove, with numerous bruises on April 5.
Bauzys was arrested after he was found sleeping in a tent in woods off the A47 on April 13.
A post mortem concluded Mrs Butiene died of a trauma to the abdomen that had caused a laceration to her liver in two places.
Detective Inspector Alan Page said: “This was a horrendous case of domestic abuse behind closed doors.
“We would urge anyone who finds themselves in an abusive relationship, please find the courage to tell someone. You don’t have to come direct to police but it’s not acceptable to live with abuse.”
