AN inquest into the death of a man who died in a fire in Littleport on Sunday has been opened.
Coroner for north and east Cambridgeshire William Morris opened and adjourned the inquest into the death of Toby Satchell, 28, of Kingsmead Court, today (Thursday).
The inquest, at Lawrence Court, in Huntingdon, was told that neighbours heard a loud bang at about 11.50am and saw flames coming from the house. The inquest heard the fire was severe and burned for several hours.
A body was found in a front bedroom on the first floor of the house. DI Ian Simpson formally identified the body.
A post mortem was carried out on August 21 by Dr Cluore at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, in Cambridge. The cause of death is unascertained. A spokesman for the coroner’s office said investigations were ongoing into the cause of fire.
A spokesman for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service added: “On Wednesday, August 21, the fire service completed it’s investigation into the cause of a fire at Kingsmead Court, in Littleport, (August 18) and has passed on its findings to the coroner.”
