Hospital staff to wear badges and introduce themselves by giving their name to make patients feel more comfortable

Queen Elizabeth Hospital nurses and receptionists have been told they must introduce themselves by giving their name ... so patients feel more at home.

The #HelloMyNameIs initiative has been trialled by more than 90 NHS Trusts since it was launched by doctor and cancer patient Kate Granger.

Dorothy Hosein, chief executive, said: “Introducing this initiative into our hospital is just one way in which we are continuing to strive for excellence in patient experience.

“’Hello my name is’ will now form part of our Trust values, with every staff member introducing themselves by name and wearing an ID badge.

“The introduction of ‘Hello my name is…’ badges will not only mean patients can put a name to a face from their first moment of contact, but will act as a reminder to staff to ensure patients feel comfortable and well-informed.”
