ECSTATIC golfer Colin Harness couldn’t believe his luck when he scored a hole-in-one at the Old Nene Golf Club championships.
Playing off an 11 handicap, Mr Harness used a 3 wood club against a headwind to hit the amazing shot over the weekend of September 1 and 2.
Asked how he managed to achieve the feat, he said: “I don’t know. I just hit the ball as straight as a die.
“It is the first time I’ve had a hole-in-one and it is a surreal feeling. I’m very pleased.”
Mr Harness, of Cedar Avenue, Doddington, now gets a hole-in-one plaque and a special trophy to recognise his achievement.
He was also runner-up in the Scratch prize, with Neil Setchell winning and taking the overall Armstrong Trophy.
The Low Handicap Mens’ winner was Ken Salt, with Mr Harness second again, with Steve Young being the High Handicap Mens’ winner on countback from Martin Seery.
Ladies’ Scratch winner was Lesley Clark from Jacquii Richardson, with Ms Richardson beating Ms Clark to Ladies’ Handicap winner.
