A blind woman was invited to a Fenland school to answer questions about the challenges she faces in her life.

Gill Southgate, of King’s Lynn, visited Gorefield Primary School with her guide dog Yazmin.

During her stay, she was interviewed by the school’s two thriving newspapers the Fishy News and the Tadpole Times.

She also took part in a question and answer session with the whole school.

Mrs Southgate’s visit was organised by student mentor Annie Appleby, who set up the two newspapers.

She said: “The pupils were interested in finding out how long it takes to train a guide dog and what it was like to have a guide dog.

“They absolutely adored Yazmin and were really interested in what Gill (Southgate) had to say.”
