Shirley-Anne Hyam said she remains “so angry” at the drug use which has sprung up in the communal areas of a block of flats in Wisbech.

She said she had lived there for 10 years but only now had the problem arisen.

“Boys are coming in to use heroin,” she said. “While I’m of the younger generation myself I do not want people smoking it outside my home.”

“I’m trying to get moved due to ill health but imagine if I fell on a dirty needle or a friend’s kid stood on one.”

Ms Hyam lives is Osborne Road in flats owned by Roddons Housing Association.

“Roddons totally don’t care, I’ve rang three times this last week,” she said.

“I’m going to King’s Lynn for a couple of days because I don’t feel safe in my own building.

“They are getting half way up the stairs and sitting there blocking people from using them. I’ve got spine degeneration and have asked to move.

“God help if I ever fell on a needle or anything.”

Anne Brighton, Managing Director at Circle Housing Roddons, said: “We are working closely with the local police to tackle this issue and contacted Mrs Hyam as soon as her concerns were brought to our attention.

“The safety of our residents remains our number one priority and we would urge anyone who is concerned to contact us immediately.”

And local councillors Virginia and Michael Bucknor have arranged to see her in a bid to find a solution

Cllr Virginia Bucknor said: “As local councillors people may be surprised how much we can help. We have a Job Tracker on our website so once people have come to us as they can trace where we have got to with the problem. It makes us accountable for everything we do.”

Ms Hyam is hopeful the problems can be resolved and is dismissive of the threats she says which have been made against her.

She said that on one occasion she went out to find out what the noise was on one occasion and was told by a gang of youths that if she reported them they would kick her door off to find her.
