The marathon challenge is bringing in funds for Help For Heroes.

In the two years since becoming Cambridgeshire coordinator for the national wounded soldiers charity, Help for Heroes, 35-year-old Debbie has raised more than £10,000 through a series of events including cycling across France and running a marathon carrying a full soldiers back pack.

Now she is taking part in her hardest fund raiser to date by cycling across Vietnam.

She has joined 240 other people pedaling the length of the country in an event organised by American charity, Operation Wounded.

As part of the fund raising epic they cycle up to 100km a day for 10 days.

The route is taking them past rice paddies, through jungle, past mountains and across many battlefield sites from Danang to central Vietnam.

Debbie said: “It is a once in a life time challenge. My hardest fund raiser to date.

“Being involved with Help for Heroes has been humbling and awe inspiring, it can often be emotional but I wouldn’t change a thing.”

Debbie, who is keeping friends informed of her progress via Facebook said on her most recent post about coming down a steep mountain: “Scared coming down. Near miss with trucks ducks and cattle, but loved high fiving the kids that cheered us on. Another 7am start tomorrow and full days ride. Bring it on.”
