A group of students at a Fenland college took part in a music workshop with a celebrated London orchestra yesterday.
Composer John K Miles and bassoonist Chris Rawley from the City of London Sinfonia visited Neale-Wade Academy in March to prepare a composition they will perform with students at a special concert next Wednesday.
Neale-Wade Academy is among a small group of colleges which are taking part in First Time Live, a scheme where top class orchestras perform in schools to promote classical music.
Year 10 students at the college have been given the responsibility to organise the concert - they will compere and speak about the origins of the music performed in between compositions.
Music teacher Ceri Griffin said: “This will be a concert by students for students. They will be compering, doing front of house duties, speaking about the music and performing one composition with the orchestra.
“It is great that a top class orchestra that travels the world is visiting our college for free.”
