Friday Bridge Primary School shut after Norovirus outbreak

A FENLAND school has been closed today after a Norovirus outbreak struck down more than half of its pupils.
Friday Bridge Primary School will remain shut tomorrow after the highly-contagious winter vomiting bug was contracted by teachers and pupils.
A spokesman for Cambridgeshire County Council said: “The school is closed today and tomorrow.
“More than half of the pupils were off with the bug and some of the staff, including the headteacher.”
The spokesman added that no other schools in the county had been affected.
Norovirus is the most common stomach bug in the country, affecting people of all ages.
Symptoms include a raised temperature, headaches, stomach cramps, vomiting and diarrhoea.
There is no specific cure but the disease does not normally last more than a couple of days.
The NHS advise sufferers to drink plenty of fluids and practise good hygiene to help prevent it from spreading.
