Emergency services take out window to free March woman trapped on first floor of home

The emergency services took out a window and battled for 90 minutes to free a woman trapped on the first floor of a house last night.

The woman, in her 30s, suffered abdominal injuries and was too unwell to be carried down the stairs of her home at All Saints Close, March.

So an EEAST Ambulance Crew, fire crew, police and Magpas Helimedix removed her upstairs bedroom window and used a raised mechanical platform to remove her from the house in what was described as a “unique and challenging extrication”.

She was taken to Peterborough City Hospital where, on arrival, she was in a stable condition.

Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Monojit Choudhury and paramedic Simon Standen) arrived at about 6.10pm and administered enhanced pain relief before assisting with the rescue.

A Cambs Fire spokesman said: “A crew from March attended the scene and requested a turntable ladder aerial appliance to help with the rescue of a female from her first floor bedroom.”
