Archant

Motorists faced delays today on the A47 near Wisbech after a trailer came adrift from a lorry.

Traffic queued back to the Guyhirn roundabout while the trailer was recovered. Picture: FLEUR_DE_LYYS_PHOTOGRAPHYTraffic queued back to the Guyhirn roundabout while the trailer was recovered. Picture: FLEUR_DE_LYYS_PHOTOGRAPHY

The trailer, full of onions, was being towed towards Guyhirn when it uncoupled from a lorry leaving the Cromwell Road roundabout.

It slid across the road, hitting a road sign, before coming to a rest on the verge.

Police controlled traffic flow while a team from Welbourn’s of Wisbech recovered the trailer.

At one point, eastbound traffic was queuing some four miles back to the Guyhirn roundabout, with delays westbound at the A1101 roundabout near Elme Hall Hotel.
