The challenge was based on the number 26, the same amount of miles in a marathon and the children from 4th March group were sponsored to participate.

The girls chose to hold a sponsored camp fire singing session with 26 songs which included favourites like Campfires Burning, Kookaburra and Alice the Camel. This was followed by toasting marshmallows.

Susan Southwell, Brownie leader, said: “We wanted to raise funds for Children with Cancer UK as part of the Big Brownie Birthday challenge badge. We have raised over £330 for the charity”.

Ben Twyman, Head of Events at Children with Cancer UK, said: “A huge thank you to 4th March Rainbows and Brownies for their hard work, commitment and dedication.

“Without the support of schools, guides and scout groups we could not continue our vital work to help save young lives. Every participating child will receive a fantastically fun Cheeky Monkey souvenir as a thank you for their efforts”.

Children with Cancer UK is the leading national children’s charity dedicated to the fight against childhood cancer. The charity funds life-saving research into the causes, prevention and treatment of childhood cancer, and works to protect young lives through essential welfare and campaigning programmes.
