A man who was rescued by air ambulance paramedics after suffering a heart attack in his car has thanked everybody involved in looking after him.

David Nicholas was placed in an induced coma while Magpas provided enhanced life support after he collapsed in his car in Wisbech.

Mr Nicholas, of Nursery Drive, Wisbech, said: “I would like to thank everybody who helped when I suffered a cardiac arrest on February 14 in Walton Road ,Wisbech.

“First of all the man in the van who dialled 999 and called the emergency services, sorry that your identity was not taken so that we could not thank you personally,” he said.

The Magpas helicopter landed in Coldhorn Crescent where a member of public was waiting to drive the Magpas crew to the car where Mr Nicholas was successfully resuscitated by ambulance crew.

Mr Nicholas added: “Next the ambulance man and nurse from Downham Market, the paramedic and the Magpas Helimedix team who all supported me on the way to Norfolk and Norwich hospital - you all helped save my life. I am home now, although very weak and I would like to thank you all for your wonderful, highly qualified team effort and for putting me on the road to recovery. I will remain forever grateful,”
