Cheque presentation to Paramedi Ian Winskill and CamSAR leader Paul Arnhill

CAMBRIDGESHIRE Search and Rescue received a kick-start to their ‘make a difference’ campaign thanks to the generosity of a Fenland village charity.

Upwell Christmas Charity organisers Ros and Malcom Shorting and Nigel and Liz Carter helped raise £400 for CamSAR at a dance held at Upwell Hall in December.

The voluntary organisation is aiming to raise funds for a new incident control room. £20,000 is also needed to buy a new vehicle for the team.

An average of 4,000 people a year are reported missing in Cambridgeshire, 95 per cent of which turn up safe and well. The remaining five per cent of cases are when CamSAR - which has a team of 26 dedicated unpaid search technicians - is called in to help.
Paul Arnhill, the group’s leader, received the cheque alongside paramedic Ian Winskill who also received a £400 donation on behalf of paramedics across the area.

The sum raised will help paramedics to purchase new equipment to assist with their work.
