A CAMBRIDGESHIRE housebuilder has announced strong trading results for 2012.
Persimmon plc increased the volume of new homes legally completed by six per cent, their average selling price by six per cent and their revenues by 12 per cent last year.
Persimmon, together with sister companies Charles Church, Westbury Partnerships and Hillreed Homes, legally completed 9,903 homes last year.
The average selling price was £173,400 and revenues for the period totalled £1.72 billion.
Adrian Evans, managing director for Peterborough-based Persimmon Homes East Midlands, said: “The year has started strongly for us in the region, with developments ongoing in Peterborough, St. Neots, Littleport, Yaxley, Hampton Hempstead and Sawtry and with new ones due for opening in Alwalton.”
Nationally, Persimmon has secured an additional allocation of 3,000 new homes as part of the FirstBuy funding, which Mr Evans says will lead to further opportunities for first time buyers in the region.
He said: “The response from prospective purchasers is extremely positive and we’re confident that government schemes including NewBuy and FirstBuy will support our sales even further.
“As we look forward to the busy spring selling season, we’re sure that schemes like FirstBuy will offer many people that first vital step onto the housing ladder.”
