Ben Waters, who owns The Fish and Meat Company in Soham, near Ely, decided to take on the races after trying to lose weight.

The 34-year-old signed up to the gym and hired a personal trainer after hitting 16 stone at the beginning of the year. He has since lost three stone.

Mr Waters said: “I’ve done some amazing obstacle course races this year. Something I never thought was possible.”

The father-of-two hopes to run the London Marathon next year and says he is the fittest he has ever been.

Mr Waters setup a Just Giving site with a target of £250. He has already raised £90 of his target and still has some races to complete.

He still faces the Spartan Beast, Spartan Sprint, Ely Potato Sack Race, OCR World Championships, Sneterton Half Martathon, Bonfire Burn 10k and the Ely Christmas Festive 5k.
