ENTREPRENEUR Quentin Pain has been nominated for the International Association of Book-keepers’ ‘Mentor of the Year’ award.

Quentin Pain, 56, of Wisbech, has been involved with business for more than 30 years, launching his own company in 1979 and going on to create several more including British software company Accountz.

A published author, the qualifications offered by the association were recommended to him in 2011 by a colleague. He is now an accredited mentor.

Malcolm Trotter, association chief executive, said: “Quentin stands out as a strong contender, not only through his extensive knowledge of accounting but his vast experience in running a business.

“His ability to listen and understand new entrepreneurs is exceptionally valuable.”

Mr Pain said: “I was shocked when I read that I had been nominated for the award.

“So often with other organisations, student mentoring is undervalued. I thrive on being able to pass on the benefit of my experience and I’m grateful to my mentees and the IAB for their support.”

The winner will be announced in a special awards ceremony in London on June 21, commemorating the association’s 40th anniversary.
