The cyclist is thought to have been turning out of City Road car park into Burrowmoor Road when the accident happened. It involved a blue Honda.

The male cyclist – thought to be in his late 30s- was treated by paramedics at the scene before, after a short while, being lifted onto a stretcher and taken to hospital.

Police helped deal with traffic management and directed some vehicles away from Burrowmoor Road.

Once the injured cyclist had been taken by ambulance to hospital, police officers photographed the scene. Once that had been done they removed the cycle which had come to rest underneath the car.
